Listen to the Word
…be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18)

In Ephesians, Paul suggests another daring prayer: “Fill me.”

I bet at some point in your life, someone has told you that you were full of something. Has anyone ever told you that you were full of God’s Spirit? Most of us honestly aren’t sure if we want to be full of God. Maybe we want just enough of him to get us into heaven, or just enough to be socially respectable, but we don’t want to go overboard or anything. And we realize that if we are full of him, there won’t be room for other things that we think are so important. We realize, in the words of John the Baptist, that if he increases, you and I must decrease (John 3:30) – and we are a little too full of ourselves to desire that.

Are you brave enough to ask God to fill every nook and cranny of your life?

Live the Word
As often as possible today, pray the brief prayer, “Spirit, fill me.”
