Listen to the Word
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance. (Romans 5:3)

Like yesterday’s verse, today’s Scripture calls us to do something that sounds a little silly: rejoice when things are hard. If you are like me, joy is not your first response when a sinus infection strikes or a check bounces or a friend snubs you. But the Bible reminds us that God is so good, he can take the bad things you endure and turn them into the very good thing of perseverance. God uses suffering to build your spiritual muscles. He takes problems that may have been meant to destroy you, and he uses them to strengthen you. God can use your pain for his glory and for your good.

Live the Word
What is your most difficult struggle today? Ask God to help you endure it, and ask him to help you find a measure of joy in the way he can use that trial to develop your perseverance.
