Listen to the Word
Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The LORD did not appear to you’?” (Exodus 4:1)

The excuse Moses raises in Exodus 4:1 seems legitimate. After all, imagine how you would respond if some smelly shepherd came to you and said, “God talked to me from a bush and told me I’m supposed to lead you to a new land.” No wonder Moses said, “What if they do not believe me?”

“What if?” That is the official worrier’s excuse. What if they don’t believe me? What if I fail? What if somebody else is more capable than I am? What if I make a fool of myself? What if it is too hard?

God responded to this excuse by performing a miracle through Moses, transforming his staff into a snake. He wanted Moses (and you) to know that when he calls a person to serve, they will have all the power they need, because they will have his power. We can let God handle the “what ifs.”

Live the Word
What is your biggest “what if” worry right now? Turn it over to God. Ask him to convince you that he is strong enough to take care of that fear.
