Listen to the Word
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)

Our words can do great harm. The old children’s rhyme says, “Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me.” That rhyme is a bald-faced lie. Our words can wound deeply, doing lifelong damage in a matter of seconds.

But our words also have the power to heal. “I love you.” “Great job!” “You look amazing.” “I’m so proud of you!” “I couldn’t have done it without you.” When words like that leave our mouths, they have a profound effect on the one to whom we are speaking. Those words enter their ears, and then echo around in their minds, and then cause all kinds of wonderful after-effects: smiles, joy, hope, strength, courage, and more. God can use our words to bring his healing to those around us.

Live the Word
Take a moment to share some encouraging words with someone who needs them. Ask God to use those words powerfully in that person’s life.
