DAILY BIBLE READINGS & SERMONS FOR LENT: Wednesday, February 17, marks the beginning of Lent, the season leading up to our celebration of Easter. We are going to dive into the Gospel of Matthew for the season this year. We have prepared booklets for you - "Journey with the Messiah" - with daily readings and a space for you to take some notes. You can pick up a booklet from the church foyer. The booklets will help you dive into God’s Word, and will literally keep our whole church family on the same page as we journey through Matthew together. Sunday morning sermons and our pastor’s daily email devotions will also flow from those Matthew readings throughout the season.

GRIEFSHARE: GriefShare provides support and healing for those who have lost a loved one. It will meet on Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Due to the weather, the start date has been moved to tonight. The cost for a study book is $15 and you can register at For more information, contact Norm & Marilyn West, 816-863-8355 or

NEW FBCLS WEBSITE & APP: Check out to see our completely redesigned website. And we have a new church app for your smartphone! The app will provide lots of tools to help you connect and grow, including a feature that lets you take notes on the sermon. You will also be able to watch the livestream of our worship service directly from the website or the app (as an alternative to the Facebook livestream, which will continue). You can find a link to download the app on the home page of the new website, or you can search for "First Baptist Church Lee's Summit" in the app store.

DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCE: Through the church’s subscription with RightNow Media, you have free access to an amazing wealth of online video resources. More than 20,000 biblically-based videos are available for small groups, families, students, and kids to help you grow in Christ. You can create your own account by clicking on this RightNow Media link and answering a few simple questions. You may also use the QR code to the right to sign up on your mobile device.

GOD MADE THE MOON FBCLS PRESCHOOL PARTY – Join Pastor Blake, Mrs. Gayla, and Mrs. Rachel for this exciting, come & go event planned for Friday, February 26 at 6:30 pm in the FBCLS parking lot. It will be an opportunity for Blake & Gayla McKinney to share Blake's love of all things space, and Gayla's love of preschool kiddos, in one special OUTDOOR event. Kiddos will have a chance to view the AMAZING night sky through Pastor Blake's telescope, sing and dance with Mrs. Gayla, and visit Mrs. Rachel for some fun and a space themed take-home treat. We studied space and how AMAZING God is in January here at FBCLS Preschool, so we wanted to SHOW them God's AWESOME creation in a special way! So bundle up, bring a flashlight, and come experience the wonder of space, all before preschool bedtime. We can't wait to see you there!

PRESCHOOL PLAY DAY: We are taking a break for February but will start meeting again every 2nd & 4th Friday in the spring, March 12 – May 14, on the playground, weather permitting.

NEW COMMUNITY GROUP: Starting Sunday, February 21, and going through April 25, a group led by Seth & Hannah Rone will meet from 5 - 6:30 PM in room ADM139.

  • Explore! at First Preschool (age 3-Pre-K) – Preschoolers will move and wiggle, sing and dance, create and interact all while learning Scripture verses, Bible truths, and just how much God loves them. If you think your child will be attending, email Rachel Esely or call 525-0700. It will help us as we make plans for your preschooler!
  • First Kids at Night (Kindergarten-2nd Grade) – Join us for fun evenings filled with Bible skills, games, missions activities, and MORE designed to help your kid grow closer to God! If you think your kid will be attending, please email Kimberley Attaway or call 525-0700. It will help us plan for you!
