Listen to the Word
I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Revelation 1:18)

Jesus busted out of the prison of death, and He brought the keys out with Him!

Keys are a symbol of authority. At my first job at a fast food restaurant, I did not have the keys to the restaurant. The manager trusted me to grill burgers and cook French fries, but he didn’t trust me to decide when the building would be open or closed. As I got older and moved into jobs with more responsibility, I was entrusted with keys.

Jesus says he has the keys of death and the grave. That means he has say over whether the door of death is open or shut. If he wants to leave it propped open so folks aren’t stuck inside, he can! The prison of death couldn’t hold Jesus, and he took the keys, so it can’t hold us any more, either.

Live the Word
Tell Jesus you submit to his authority as the one with the keys. Ask him to open the doors for you that need to be opened today.
