Listen to the Word
Love is not easily angered. (1 Corinthians 13:5)

Here’s another big promise you can make to the members of your family: “I won’t blow up over small things.”

How often has your family seen something insignificant turn into full-scale war in the blink of an eye? 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us that when we love someone, we don’t have a quick trigger with them. Nine times the Old Testament describes God as “slow to anger.” It is one of His distinguishing characteristics. He wants it to be one of yours. A quick temper is not just a bad habit or an inconvenient character flaw. It is sin. It is the opposite of love.

Live the Word
Confess to God any recent temper outbursts you remember. Apologize to the victim(s) of that eruption.
