Listen to the Word

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)

The final item required for the Christian’s relational wardrobe is patience. Unfortunately, this article of clothing doesn’t fit most of us very well! We want what we want, and we want it NOW!

Relationships require patience. We must patiently endure when our tendency is to bail out at the first sign of trouble. We must patiently love people who aren’t so easy to love. We must wait for people who haven’t “arrived” yet spiritually (just like we haven’t). We must clothe ourselves with patience.

Live the Word

Practice some patience training today. Choose the long line at the store, drive in the slow lane, and chew your food slowly. Let God show you that you can survive without constant hurry.
