Listen to the Word
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)
Today's Biblical time management guideline: Schedule first what matters most.
If someone looked at your daily schedule, what would they assume your top priorities were? For most people, the things we say are most important to us are not necessarily the things we put in our calendars. We say that our relationship with God is important, but we don't spend time with him unless some unexpected free time falls in our laps when there is a Bible nearby. We say it is important to love our families and friends, but we just give him the leftover minutes if there happen to be any.
What if we were more intentional about setting aside time for the things that matter most? What if, instead of planning everything else and then hoping there is room somewhere for loving God and loving people, we approached it the other way around? What if, in our scheduling, we were to seek first God's kingdom and let everything else fall into place around that?
Live the Word
Ask God to show you something that is important to you but tends to be neglected in your daily routine. Schedule a specific time for that important thing in the next couple of days.
