Listen to the Word
"The angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.'" (Luke 2:10-11)
Christmas and joy seem to go hand in hand. We sing "Joy to the World." We wish each other a "merry" Christmas. Even the sourest Scrooge has to try hard not to smile during this season. Joy is everywhere.
The first Christmas greeting ever, which was given by an angel to a group of shepherds, was all about joy – good news of great joy for all people. Christmas gives us reason to rejoice. On that holy day, we celebrate the incomprehensible truth that our majestic God is humble enough to wrap himself in human flesh and show up in a feeding trough. We celebrate the reality that we are so valuable to God that he came to us to rescue us. Joy to the world; the Lord has come!
Live the Word
Pray that God will help you experience joy through this week and this Christmas season. Thank God that you are part of the "all people" of Luke 2:10.
