Listen to the Word
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all." (Mark 10:42-44)

Imagine that you are standing in the lobby of a big building. Several huge doors are in front of you. You've been told that one of them leads to greatness, and you must decide which one to take. One is covered in fancy mirrored glass and is labeled "fame." It sure looks like it could lead to greatness. Lots of people are taking it. There are other impressive doors that are attracting lines of people. One has big stately columns and is labeled "education." One marked "wealth" is made of solid gold. You are wondering which one leads to greatness. Then you notice a small door off to the side - probably the door to a custodial closet. A sign by that door says "service." You remember something Jesus said one time - that whoever wants to become great must be a servant. And that's the door you choose.

Live the Word
When you make a decision today, intentionally choose the option that will most allow you to be a servant.
