Episode 21

Nov 23, 2021    Dr. Blake McKinney

Happy Thanksgiving!  This week many will enjoy time away from work, gather with family, stuff
themselves silly, watch a little football, and maybe drag out a few Christmas decorations.  Hopefully
somewhere in the mix will be some genuine gratitude.  Perhaps in the middle of a meal, the realization
will dawn that the bite of turkey you are chewing is a gift from an amazingly generous Father.  Maybe
there will be a moment of reflecting on how God has taken care of you as you journeyed through the
absolute chaos of the last year.  Perhaps you will be struck out of the blue by what a huge blessing it is
to have some simple thing that you take for granted, like a roof over your head or clothes on your back
or air in your lungs.  Take advantage of this week when the calendar reminds you of your responsibility
to give thanks, and express your appreciation to your generous heavenly Father.

Your thanksgiving assignment:
1) Begin every prayer with gratitude.
2) Be thankful for specific things.
3) Say "thank you" to the people in your life.

Verses Mentioned:
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name." Psalm 100:4

The Pause: Could you use a little spiritual recharge in the middle of your week? This series of brief videos is designed to help you step away from the craziness of life for just a moment, to receive some practical encouragement from God. Let's get ready to learn and grow.
