Listen to the Word

Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.  (Job 7:11)

The book of Job is full of Job’s bitter complaints to God. Job said his life was just fine until God ruined it. He accused God of crushing him, shattering him, and wearing him out. If I were God, I wouldn’t tolerate that kind of nonsense. After all, God deserves better than to have to put up with insubordination from one of his creatures. But amazingly, God allows Job to get it off his chest. The book of Job even says that Job’s words were not sinful (Job 2:10). God wanted Job to be honest with him, and he desires the same from you. Don’t sanitize your prayers. Be honest with God.

Live the Word

Practice honest prayer. Tell God about your deepest frustration, and thank him for loving you enough to listen.
