Listen to the Word

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

This week’s verse makes another huge claim about who we are in Christ: we are a people belonging to God.

You may feel unattached and alone. But God says you are his. You are owned by God, and that makes you valuable. A baseball cap is worth twenty bucks or so - unless it was worn in a game by a Major League all-star. You are the treasured possession of the God of the universe, which means you have infinite value.
