Listen to the Word
He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. (Ephesians 1:5)

God made you so he could adopt you into his family. Let’s make two final observations about that adoption. First, see that we are adopted “through Jesus Christ.” Jesus is the way into God’s family. We accept our place as God’s child by trusting Jesus, who lived and died and rose again for us. Second, notice the reason God wants to adopt us: “in accordance with his pleasure.” Wow! It gives God pleasure to welcome you into his family! He delights to receive you, and provide for you, and protect you, and love you. He wants you to be his child because it brings him joy to be your Father!
