Listen to the Word

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”  (Matthew 9:27)

The blind men in Matthew 9 were among many who called for mercy from Jesus. And countless people received mercy from Him. There were prostitutes - women who had taken their God-designed bodies, God’s temples, and used them shamefully. Jesus forgave them. There were lepers - outcasts suffering from a disease that left them unclean in every possible way. Jesus healed them. There were tax collectors - greedy turncoats getting rich off their neighbors. Jesus dined with them and called them as his disciples. There were friends who denied Him, pretending they had never met Him. Jesus gave them second chances. Jesus is full of mercy.

Live the Word

Experiment with a “breath prayer” today. Repeat the simple plea, “Lord, have mercy,” multiple times throughout the day.
