Listen to the Word

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.  (Luke 6:36)

In Luke 6, Jesus challenges you to take the mercy you have received from God and extend it to the people in your life. Just as mercy marks the character of God, it must mark yours. There ought to be a family resemblance between the Father and his child. The God who forgives freely and loves lavishly calls you to do the same. If God has mercifully pardoned your faults, why should you refuse to pardon the offenses of others? You can show your appreciation for the countless second chances God has given you by extending second chances to those who disappoint you.

Live the Word

Are you holding onto a grudge against someone? Ask God to help you let it go and extend his mercy to that person. Ask God to help you be more like him.
