Listen to the Word

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.   (2 Corinthians 3:17)

There are some people who have a distinctive impact on others. Maybe you know someone who brings laughter with her wherever she goes – you can always tell when she enters a room, because the joy factor of the room increases significantly with her arrival. Or maybe you have a friend who never learned to use his “inside voice,” and so noise seems to follow him wherever he goes.

Freedom follows God wherever he goes. God’s Spirit trails freedom in his wake. Every life he fills, every group he touches is marked by freedom. Bondage simply cannot stand in his presence. Chains vanish when he is around. You can tell when God is around, because freedom is everywhere.

Each time you encounter freedom today, give thanks to God as the ultimate source of that freedom.
