Listen to the Word

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  (John 8:36)

Jesus lets us know that setting people free is what he does, and he does it right! Freedom is a gift of the Son of God. It can’t be given by any politician, or by your parents, or by your pocketbook. And you can’t procure it for yourself – you can’t sign your own Declaration of Independence. Jesus is the only source of true freedom.

And when he sets us free, we are free indeed. Free from fear. Free from the need to please people. Free from guilt. Free from the present power of sin. Free from selfishness. Free indeed!
