Listen to the Word

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Sometimes God seems slow. He doesn’t always answer our prayers the moment we say “amen.” But when you look at things from his vantage point, he is not slow at all. To wait a whole day for something is a huge burden to us. But God has been around more than a gazillion years - waiting a day is not such big deal to him.

Patience is one of God’s primary characteristics. The fact that he puts up with you and with me is pretty clear evidence of that! God sets the example for us to show us how to be patient. He is patient with you. You should return the favor by being patient with the rest of his children and with your circumstances.

Live the Word

If you find yourself placed on hold on the telephone, or sitting in a waiting room, or stuck in traffic or in a line at the store, ask God to use that waiting time as patience training for you.
