Listen to the Word
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? (Matthew 6:27)
Jesus likes to ask questions. He asks almost a hundred questions in the Gospel of Matthew alone. We will explore some of these great questions this week.
Today’s question comes from the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus uses it to point out the uselessness of worry. If worrying could add hours to life, we would all live to be 496. But of course it doesn’t. In fact, medical experts tell us that worry can actually subtract hours from life through its assault on the systems of our bodies.
So go ahead. Raise your hand if your worry does any good.
Live the Word
Through prayer, take what you are worrying about and give it to the God who can handle it.
