Listen to the Word
Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (Luke 19:39-40)
As Jesus entered Jerusalem a few days before his death, crowds of people began to praise him as “the king who comes in the name of the Lord” (Luke 19:38). Basically, they were worshipping him as the Messiah. Some religious leaders were appalled by those exclamations of adulation and told Jesus to shush them. Jesus responded that the praises of the crowd were so true, and that they so needed to be expressed, that if the people got quiet the rocks along the side of the road would pick up with the next verse.
Jesus will be praised today. If you don’t do the praising, God will find someone else or something else who will. But here's your assignment: don’t let the rocks take your job. Take every available opportunity to declare Christ’s greatness. Recognize that he is the king and give him the adoration he deserves.
Live the Word
As an act of worship and witness, make a point to tell someone something you appreciate about Jesus.
