Listen to the Word
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (Luke 6:36)

Children often become like their parents, taking up the mannerisms, habits, and priorities they see modeled at home. The same should be true in the family of faith. God is your Father, and you are his child. There should be a family resemblance. When people look at you, they should notice some ways you take after your Heavenly Father.

Luke specifically mentions mercy as a trait of God’s that should rub off on his kids. God overflows with mercy, forgiving freely. That mercy is a pattern for you. Don’t nurse a grudge and hang on to bitterness. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

Live the Word
Are you feeling resentment toward someone? Choose to let it go right now. Forgive that person, as God has forgiven you. Ask God to replace your bitterness with his mercy and love.
