Listen to the Word
God predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will. (Ephesians 1:5)

Adopted kids are special. They are chosen. They are part of a family because their adoptive parents said, “We want you. We love you, and we can’t imagine our lives without you. We choose to make you our child.”

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then you are God’s special, chosen, adopted child. You are his because God wanted you to be his. God decided long ago (“predestined” is the fancy word Ephesians uses) to take you home as his own. The Scripture even says it brings God pleasure that you are his child. You are not an orphan - you are an adopted child of your Heavenly Father!
