Listen to the Word

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:12)

The third element of the relational wardrobe for a child of God is humility. To be humble does not mean you view yourself as a no-good, lousy bum. Humility is not thinking less of yourself. Humility is simply thinking of yourself less. Humility is a healthy self-forgetfulness, a lack of concern for personal status, and a freedom from the need for self-promotion. Humility is necessary for God-honoring relationships because it allows you to get past the typical “it’s all about me” mindset and put the needs of someone else above your own. God calls you to clothe yourself with humility.

Live the Word

Find a menial task you can do today and do it as an act of service to God and others. Clean up some trash, wash some dishes, or do some other type of hard work that presents itself to you today.
