Listen to the Word

Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. (Luke 18:40-41)

Jesus’ question in today’s Scripture almost sounds like a blank check. The one who can do anything asks you what you want him to do for you. Your answer to that question reveals a ton about the condition of your heart and the status of your relationship with him.

What do you want Jesus to do for you? Do you want him to make you pretty and popular and rich, or make you to be like him? Do you want him to give you a life without pain, or a life with him? Do you want him to make you famous, or make himself famous through you? Do you want him to be your lucky rabbit’s foot, or your Lord?

Live the Word

Ask Jesus to shape you so that you want what he wants. Then tell him what you want him to do for you.
