Listen to the Word
Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
This week we will reflect on the topic of doubt. Like the father in Mark 9, most of us are a mixture of faith and doubt. Sometimes your heart believes, but your mind is still catching up. Sometimes what once seemed like a solid foundation starts to feel like shaky ground. We like it when our statements of faith have a period at the end, or even an exclamation point, but sometimes there is a question mark hanging there.
Know that you are not alone in your doubt. The Bible is full of faith heroes who had questions about their faith - folks like Abraham and Sarah, Moses, Gideon, Mary, John the Baptist, Peter, and Thomas. They all learned that God can do impressive things with doubting faith.
Live the Word
If you are struggling with doubt, make the words of the father in Mark 9 your prayer this week: “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”
