Listen to the Word
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.” (John 11:25)
This week we are continuing to reflect on the “I am” sayings of Jesus - words he spoke to help us understand who he is. Our goal is to have our vision of Jesus expanded, and to come to believe the same things about Jesus that he believes about himself. In today’s verse, he tells us that he is the resurrection and the life.
Jesus first said these things in a cemetery, and he made it obvious that they weren’t just pretty words. He backed them up by calling a deceased person to take a stroll from a tomb. Jesus can give what he says he can give, and he is who he says he is. He is funeral-interrupting resurrection! He is death-proof life!
Live the Word
Do you know someone who is grieving the death of a loved one? Pray for that person, asking Jesus to reassure them with his mastery of life and death.
