Listen to the Word

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  (Philippians 2:5-7)

God looked at the world and saw that the people he loved were stuck in sin and missing out on the life he had designed them to live. So he made an astounding decision: He decided to dive in after us. He put on skin, became human, became a servant, became a baby, and entered our world. He didn’t worry that it was way beneath his divine dignity. He didn’t mind that some would think he was dragging his own name through the mud. Even though it meant a manger, even though it meant a cross, he came to us. What love! What humility! O come, let us adore him!
