Listen to the Word
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all." (Mark 10:42-44)

Jesus challenges you to take a different path toward greatness. Don't settle for being the person who can hit a ball the farthest, or make the best grades, or get the most likes on your latest selfie, or spend the most money. Be the person who puts the needs of others above their own. Be the person who gets their hands dirty without worrying about what it will do to their image. Be the person who expresses love in practical, tangible ways.

If you want to be great, then fix someone's plumbing or do their ironing. Babysit for somebody. Do a chore that someone else in your house normally does. Let a car in front of you in traffic. Write an encouraging note. Work with kids at your church. Be a servant!

Live the Word
Serve someone today by praying for them throughout the day. Don't tell anyone about it - just pray as an act of service.
