Listen to the Word

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)

One of the images Jesus uses to describe himself is a gate. A gate is a point of access. If you want to enter a fenced pasture, the gate is your way in.

Jesus is making the huge claim that he is the point of access to the life God has for you. He is the gate to salvation. There is a pasture full of love and joy and peace and purpose, and Jesus is the entrance to that pasture. There is no need for you to try to hop the fence somewhere else - Jesus the gate invites you to come in through him.

Live the Word

Post the words “I am the gate” on a doorway you will use multiple times today. Let the words remind you of who Jesus is.
