Listen to the Word

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”    (Galatians 5:25)

The only way to keep in step with the Spirit is one step at a time. That means trusting him and following him on a day by day, moment by moment basis. We spend a lot of time trying to figure out God’s long-range plans for our lives. Maybe we should think more about where God is leading us in the next five minutes. Honestly, sometimes seeking “God’s will for your life” can be a procrastination technique – a way for you to postpone obedience. If you spend a lot of time praying about what career God wants you to choose, you can avoid the issue of how he wants you to treat the person beside you today.

If you make it your habit to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit this moment, you will eventually end up at the destination he has for you. Don’t worry so much about 100 miles down the road. Walk in step with the Spirit today, and that will take care of itself.

Live the Word

Ask God to help you see what he wants you to do with the next ten minutes of your life. Then do what he leads you to do.
