Listen to the Word
Love is kind... it is not rude. (1 Corinthians 13:4-5)

Today’s Scripture suggests a second promise you can make to the members of your family: “I will treat you as someone extremely valuable.”

We are often meanest to the people we supposedly love the most. When we are rude to members of our family, we communicate that they don’t matter – that they have no value. The opposite of rudeness is kindness. Kindness says, “You do matter, and I like you, and I’m honored to know you. You are more than an annoyance I have to endure, a thorn in my flesh, a pain in my neck. You are a part of my family. You are valuable to God and to me, and I will treat you with respect and dignity.”

Live the Word
Think of something simple you could do that would bring a smile to someone in your family. Make arrangements to do that thing before the end of the day.
