Listen to the Word

We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. (Psalm 75:1)

In our world, the greater someone is, the more distance there is between that person and normal folks like us. A ground-level grunt in a large company can’t just barge in and get comfortable on the CEO’s couch. And Joe Citizen can’t go ring the doorbell of the White House and ask the President to come out on the porch for a chat.

Since God is the greatest of all, we might assume that he is the most distant - so far above us that we could never reach him. But praise God, he is not! He is near. He is right here with us. He comes down to meet us where we are. We give thanks to God, for his Name is near!
