Listen to the Word
Love is patient. (1 Corinthians 13:4)

This week we will ponder a couple of verses in 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible’s famous love chapter. We will pay attention to what these verses have to say about our relationships with family members. Specifically, we will let the passage point to some promises we can make to the members of our family.

Here’s the first promise: “I will remember that you are a work in progress.” You’ve probably noticed that you are part of a family full of imperfect people. That’s a good thing, by the way – otherwise you would not be welcome there. But life with flawed people requires large doses of patience. You must cut the members of your family some slack. Give them permission not to be God. Remember that they are works in progress, just like you are. Remember that love is patient.

Live the Word
Try some patience training today. Intentionally drive in the slow lane, or get in the longest line at the grocery store. While you are slowed down, pray for the members of your family.
