Listen to the Word

"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."  (Romans 8:35,37)

Our Scripture promises that, through the strength of Christ's love, we will be able to overcome any challenge that comes our way. And we won't just barely survive. We will be "more than conquerors." The Greek compound word behind this phrase is hupernikao. Nikao means "to win, to be victorious" (maybe you can see where a certain shoe company got its name). Huper is the source of our prefix "hyper-" and carries the meaning of "exceedingly more than." So the promise is that we will superwin - we will be hypervictorious.

We don't just squeak by the problems of life. We will thoroughly conquer and demolish the opposition. This isn't talking about you hitting a last second foul shot to win by the skin of your teeth. We're talking about running the other team out of the gym, 40-point blowout stuff. We are more than conquerors!

Live the Word

Think of someone you know who is struggling with a significant hardship. Pray that God will give them the strength to overwhelmingly conquer.
