Listen to the Word

"Therefore put on the full armor of God... take the helmet of salvation."  (Ephesians 6:13,17)

You wouldn't want to go into battle with your ol' noggin exposed, so Roman soldiers wore helmets. Our Scripture says that salvation is the helmet for each Christian. It is part of our spiritual armor.

A crucial facet of our defense against the attacks of the devil is Christ's willingness to rescue us. He came to save us. In fact, we engage in the battle around us with confidence because we are not fighting for victory - we are fighting from victory. Through his death on the cross, Christ has already thwarted Satan's purposes. As the old hymn says about our adversary: "for lo, his doom is sure." There are still plenty of skirmishes all around, but the outcome of the war is already decided. Christ is the victor. And thanks to his salvation, we are victorious, too.

Live the Word

Tell Jesus thanks for dying for you to rescue you.
