Listen to the Word

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”   (Psalm 46:10)

God tells you to be still because he knows that hurry is wrecking your life. Think about it: Why do you have a hard time being kind to your family? It is probably because your constant pace is go, go, go, and once you get home you are so wiped out that your family just gets emotional leftovers. Hurry is the arch enemy of kindness, because love takes time. And what keeps you from spending time in prayer? What prevents you from being a servant to people you work with? It is probably your frantic, frazzled busyness.

God sees you whirling around and says, “Slow down. Be still. Know that I am God.”

Live the Word

Take a moment to reflect on what a life of hurry is costing you. Ask God to help you live at a pace that allows you to listen to him and love others.
