Listen to the Word
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. (1 John 4:7-8 NAS)

Notice what our Scripture identifies as the source of love: “love is from God.” It is not something we drum up with our own effort. God, who is love in his very essence, is the supplier of all love. The more deeply we experience his love, the more naturally we will be able to share that love with others. The best way to learn to love is to look to the One who invented love - the One who perfected it in the gift of Jesus Christ. His love is the source and pattern of our love. We can be extravagant with love because we are loved extravagantly.

Live the Word
As often as it comes to mind, pray this prayer today: “Father, help me to love others with the love you have given me.”
