Listen to the Word

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)

Isaiah says the key to strength is hope. But it is a specific kind of hope. If you have false hope, you will continue to be tired and weary. Strength is not promised for those who have hope in any old thing – it is not simply an assurance that if you are an optimist, you will be strong. Strength increases for those who hope in the LORD. If your hope is in a promotion, or a human relationship, or a bank account, or anything else south of heaven, then you need to get used to living life worn out. If you want your strength renewed, you must put your hope in God.

Live the Word

Are you leaning on the wrong source of hope today, counting on something other than God to secure your future? Confess that to him, and tell him you want to put your hope in him.
