Listen to the Word

…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith…  (Hebrews 12:2a)

Imagine attempting to walk through a dense forest that is thick with underbrush and thorns. There are no visible trails, and progress is slow and painful. Every step leads to a branch in the face or a shoe caught in briars or a stumble over a hidden log, all while wondering if you are even moving in the right direction.

Now imagine walking through the same forest, but this time you are following someone who has blazed a trail. There is a path where the obstacles are removed and the way is clear.

Our journey of faith is more like the second experience. We aren’t making our own way through uncharted territory. We are following Jesus, the pioneer of our faith, the one who has already completed the journey.

Live the Word

Thank Jesus for the fact that, whatever you may face today, he has already blazed a trail for you. Ask him to help you stay on the path he has cleared.
