Listen to the Word
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
Isaiah chooses an interesting word to describe the way we acquire strength when we hope in the LORD. The NIV renders it, “they will renew their strength.” A more literal translation would be, “they will exchange their strength.” The same Hebrew word is used elsewhere in the Bible to describe changing clothes. Don’t miss the good news here: God wants to exchange our weariness for his energy. He wants to swap our puniness for his power. He not only promises to help us to be stronger – he promises to give us some of his strength!
Live the Word
Find a Bible and read Isaiah 40:26-31, paying special attention to each time it mentions strength and power. Tell God you want his strength on display in your life today.
